Mera Peak Climbing - 20 Days

One of the major and the most popular trekking peak in Nepal is possibly the Mera Peak (6654m) located to the south of Everest. The highlights of the trek are the charm of climbing Mera Peak and scenery of the densely forested hill side. The route crossing Ama Lapcha (5,780m) gives you some of the most adventurous trekking offering the spectacular scenery through remote glaciated valleys & passes.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu - 1360m

You arrive in Kathmandu and are transferred to the hotel. A pre-trek briefing will be scheduled to discuss the trekking program and co-ordinate any last-minute arrangements. Overnight at hotel, inclusive of breakfast.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla - 2850m

After breakfast, drive to airport to take a 35 mintutes flight to Lukla.

Acclimatization day with day hiking in Lukla and its surroundings to adjust with the new environment and high elevation.Overnight at guest house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 03: Trek to Chutanga - 3050m

The trail criss crosses through pristine hamlets and thick forests along Kalo Himal ridge. After 4-5 hours of trekking, we reach at Chutanga.Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 04: Acclimatization at Chutanga

We spend one extra night at Chutanga. This gives us proper time for acclimatization prior to getting across the Zatrwa La pass (4600m).

Day 05: Trek to Tuli kharka - 4300m

The trail crosses the Kalo Himal ridge, which separates the Khumbu from the Hinku Valley. Further ahead, we traverse a comfortable path displaying a cairned notch on the ridge with several prayer flags at an elevation of 4600m. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 06: Trek to Gothey - 3600m.

We continue our trek descending to Hinku valley of Gothey at an altitude of 3600m. Gothey is a good place to camp and there are several teahouses around and you can visit and get around seeing the local lifestyle in the remaining time. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 07: Trek to Tangnag - 4350m

Today is another short day as you trek in the shadow of Mera Himal along the ridge of the Hinku Khola. The west bank of the Hinku Drangka northwards then to Gondishung, a summer herder’s settlement. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 08: Acclimatization at Thangnag.

We have another day for complete acclimatization. After proper rest, we can explore other adventure possibilities like strolling by Sabal Tsho, beautiful moraine-dammed lake, which is hidden behind the Sabal Glacier and climbing a peak up to an altitude of nearly 5000m. We can also explore Hinku Nup Glacier, which leads north toward Kantega. The upper Hinku valley turns to the east at Tangnag, crossing the moraine of the Dig Glacier. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 09: Trek to Khare, 5000m.

The day heading up towards the Mera Base camp at Khare. We follow the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka, which offers magnificent view of Charpate Himal. The trail ascends through moraines and to the snout of the Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers and then climbs more steeply to your camping spot at Khare, 5,025m. Overnight at tent, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 10: Spare day.. to pratice the climbing...

We use one more day for acclimatization. After proper rest, we take a walk up to a small peak on the west side of the Hinku Nup Glacier, where we can reach a height of around 5500m. At this point, we get to capture marvelous views of Mera La and Mera Peak. Overnight at tea house,inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 11: Trek to Mera La - 5,415m and Mera Base Camp (5320m)

A short trekking day hike as you makes your way to Mera Base Camp. Lower part of the Mera Glacier. Reaching the pass Mera La, 5,415m We then descend towards the Hongu valley and set up base camp in the moraine below the ice and overnight in Mera Base Camp, 5,350m. Overnight at tent, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 12: Trek to High Camp - 5,750m.

Making your ascend to Mera High Camp can be tuff if it has been snow, as there are a number of crevasses here. You keep your climbing to the top of the rock.You set up a high camp and from here the view is outstanding, with Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Overnight at tent, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 13: Submit the Mera Peak (6654m) and back to Khare.

Early in the morning at around 2am after breakfast, we head towards the summit. By sunrise, we reach up to the 6000m. From the summit you can see the magnificent views of Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Cho-Oyu (8,201m/26,906ft), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m),  Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Lubuche (6,145m). You then retrace your steps to Khare after the climb with a rest and some hot soup at high camp on the way down. Overnight at tea house,inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 14: Trek to Gothey

After a great attempted on the top of Mt. Mera we descend to Hinku valley to Gothey for our overnight stop. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 15: Trek to Thuli Kharka.

The day, we again climb up through the lush forest on the west ridge of the Hinku Valley to Tuli Kharka lower the Zatwra La. Overnight at tea house,inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla

Trekking back to Lukla via crossing Zatrwa la, the last day of our trip. After the top we descend  to get to Lukla. Overnight at tea house, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee.

Day 17: Early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel, inclusive of breakfast

Day 18-19: Spare day in Kathmandu incase of bad weather in Lukla or during climbing period. Overnight at hotel, inclusive of breakfast.

Day 20: Drive to Airport for your onward Journey. "Farewell"  **End of the Tour***
