Weather and Climate Conditions on the Gokyo Lake Trek

Be Prepared for Varying Conditions

Our second trek with Nepal Hiking Tour was just as amazing as our first trek to EBC. When we decided to plan our Gokyo Lakes trek, our first call was to Nepal Hiking. Bhairam, the manager, was incredibly accommodating and flexible in meeting all of our requests. We specifically asked for our favourite guide, Mahendra, who guided us on our first trip. He is simply the best guide you can ever get for trekking.
Our trip was perfect in every way, with an experienced guide and porter, reasonable pricing, and great attention to detail. We highly recommend Nepal Hiking, and my husband is already considering trekking with them to Annapurna!
Thank you to Bhairam and the entire Nepal Hiking team for an unforgettable experience.

My wife and I booked a private guided hike with Nepal Hiking after a recommendation from a friend. Communication prior to the hike was excellent and questions were answered quickly. Our guide Bhikash was a quiet guy that sometimes seemed to lack knowledge of names of mountains and cultural aspects of the area (could have been the language barrier at time too), but went the extra mile a number of times to help make our experience unique, especially with some unforeseen changes to our schedule (something we were prepared for anyway – based on experiences of friends – when travelling in the Himalayas, always leave a couple of extra days for contingencies).

The airport drop off and pickup was great, hotels were fantastic and transfers were all fine.

The hike to Gokyo was absolutely breathtaking! We spent the first two days hiking with the EBC groups and it was like a traffic jam, hiking with big groups through beautiful valley towns. After Namche, we headed left at a fork and up towards Gokyo and it was another world! Quiet trails, stunning mountain views, relaxed people in super nice tea houses and the summit of Gokyo Ri was an absolute highlight! Views of all the major peaks, including Everest.

I would do the Gokyo Ri hike again in a heartbeat, especially as it felt we were off-the-beaten-track during peak season and would recommend Nepal Hiking to anyone.

Dear Tilak,

I have been travelling a lot, but the trekking trip to Gokyo Lake, Chola Pass and Everest Base Camp was the best holiday I have ever spent. Like five years ago, there was nothing to complain about in the Annapurna region.

In a word, everything was perfect again. Thank you for our trip’s fantastic arrangement, planning and organisation. The service was great and professional.

Every day we could enjoy spectacular views, sceneries and landscapes. I will never forget these days in my life.

A special Thank You also to our guide Lok and our porter Raj. They were the best possible duo, always nice, kind and helpful. Once, I struggled one day; they even carried my small backpack. But, eventually, we became friends very soon.

This was our second time in Nepal, but not the last one. And, of course, you will also manage and plan our third trip; there is no doubt about it! Thank you very much again for everything. I do appreciate your kindness and hospitality.

Take care and all the best. See you again soon.

Kind regards,

I have been with Nepal Hiking twice, and I’m sure there will be a third time. I did the Gokyo/Everest Base Camp trek with them in 2007. I didn’t even look at other companies when planning a new trip to Nepal this past Christmas. I was so impressed with Nepal Nepal Hiking’s service the first time that I contacted Mr Tilak again and booked our new trip.

The owner Mr Tilak is such a nice fellow that we met him for dinner, and we still keep in touch. Their staff are top-notch professionals, from Mr Tilak and Mr Bhairam to the guides, porters and drivers.

I will highly recommend this company to anyone planning to visit Nepal.

Best wishes,
