Helambu, home of Hyolmo people is region of highland villages of Nepal which is about 80 km from Kathmandu valley. Being a Buddhist pilgrimage site, this place is famous for it’s aesthetic Buddhist monasteries. Though the presence of high Himalayas is not there, Langtang Himalayan range (7246m), Dorje Lakpa(6988m), Gaurishankar Himal (7415m), Ganesh Himal (7406m) and Jugal Himal are the best scenery of this valley. Helambu trekking is easy, moderate and popular trekking trail in Langtang trekking region. Unlike other treks that travel through rough trails, Langtang has low risk factors as it is at low altitude. As the trail is easy to walk on, the Langtang Valley trek is appropriate for all types of people who are pursuing to go trekking, regardless of their gender, age or physical condition at affordable fees. Finest scenery can be viewed in spring and autumn season as the weather at this time is at it’s best.

Langtang valley is bio-diversitically rich and has Langtang National Park of its own which is a proud thing for Nepal. Trekkers can get the sight of some flora and endangered fauna such as Himalayan Black Bear, Red Panda, Himalayan Tahr etc in the forest. Travelers or trekkers can possibly experience or gain some knowledge of the culture of the natives of Helambu.  Tea house lodging and camping are only the source of accommodation provided in Helambu valley trek. The Helambu valley trek is appropriate for those trekkers who prefer short time trek as this trek can be completed within a week. Basically the trek begins from Sundarijal, the north-east corner of Kathmandu valley.

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu airport (Tribhuvan International Airport)

Pick up and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu. Your overnight stay will be at Kathmandu Suite Home or nearby hotel of similar standard.

Day 2Kathmandu to Chisapani (2134m)

After earlier breakfast your guide and driver will pick up you and drive to Sundarijal for almost 1 hour and begin to hike towards Chisopani (3 hours).

Overnight at guesthouse (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 3Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m)

After breakfast you will begin your trek to Kutumsang, which takes approximately 7 hours from Chisopani. You will pass some fine villages such as Pathi Bhangyang, Gul Bhanjyang and finally reach at Kutumsang.

Day 4Kutumsang to Magen Goth (3514m)

Todays’ trek duration is shorter but more scenic. Continuing the trek for 3 hours, and enjoying the view of beautiful peaks, Jungle, you will reach at Magen Goth.

Day 5Magen Goth to Melamchi Gaon (2640m)

Following the trail for 6 hours from Magen Goth, Melamchi Gaon is reached via Tharepati (3650m) where different floras are present and equally you will be tranquilized with beauty of the landscape.

Day 6Melamchi Gaon to Tarke Ghyang (2743m) and Sermathang (2621m)

Tarke Ghyang is parallel village in terms of altitude, culture and its’ natural beauty. To reach Tarke Ghyang from Melamchi Gaon you will trek for about 5 hours after crossing Melamchi Khola.

In this region, there are mainly 3 villages (Melamchi Gaon, Tarke Gyang & Sermathang). As the local are Buddhism followers, there are Buddhist monasteries in every village. You will make a visit to the monasteries while you are there!

With easy pace in 3-4 hours, you will reach at Sermathang.

Day 7Sermanthang to Melamchi Pul (846m) & Kathmandu

Crossing some beautiful meadows and villages you will reach at Melamchi Pul Bazar in 4-5 hours and you will then drive back to Kathmandu with some lumpy as well as pitch road for 3-4 hours which concludes the trip of Helambu valley.
