Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

This fascinating Legendary Classic trek offers a wonderful opportunity to climb Kalapathar (5,535m), overlooking the Everest Base Camp area, having a superb view of the highest mountains, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and to interact with the indigenous people. It is considered the highly praised trekking route to Everest Region. It was in 1952 when two renewed figures, Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr Tenzing Sherpa, took the same route to Mt. Everest.

After a seven hours scenic drive to Jiri, we follow the spectacular route via the Solukhumbu area through the heart of fine Sherpa villages, each with something new to offer. It offers ample opportunity to explore the beautiful forest, farming country sides and several monasteries at high elevations on the way to Lukla. Once one has passed Lukla, we climb onto Namche Bazaar, the main trading village of the Khumbu area, continuing via Thyangboche monastery to Pheriche and Lobuche.

The trek has several attractions: the spectacular scenery and the unique culture of the Sherpa people of Solukhumbu. In this region, Mt. Everest and its attendant lesser peaks are located.

9th February 2023

As road access is further up to Salleri, we have recently updated the trek itinerary, starting from Salleri, the District Headquarters of Solukhumbu. With the updated itinerary, you will take a long drive by jeep to Salleri and spend overnight there before you start your trek journey. With this trekking programme, first, you will visit Gokyo Lake and Chola Pass; then, you will head up to Everest Base Camp. Altogether, it is a 24-day trip. If you are looking for a shorter route without visiting the Gokyo Lake and Chola Pass, please check out the 21 days A Road Trip to Everest Base Camp – 21 days.

It is my pleasure to talk about my guide “Ganga” who works for Nepal Hiking. He helped my wife and me during our Nepal trekking. With the help of Nepal Hiking and our great guide Ganga, we left Kathmandu on 12th March for the classic Everest trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp and back to Lukla (23 days). We are now in Kathmandu after more than 3 weeks of a wonderful trekking trip and spending some days before returning home, and we are now emailing our friends and family and telling them about our great trip to Everest with our guide. To speak about our guide, in brief, he is an excellent guide, has been trained by the Ministry of Tourism Nepal, has good humour, and knows all aspects of Nepali lifestyle and culture.

Lastly, we highly recommend our guide’s excellent professional service and personal care during our trekking tour in the Everest Region.

We were very satisfied, and Mr Ganga made an excellent tribute to our holiday in Nepal.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Tilak,

Happy New Year!

Thank you and your team for making my trekking tour to Nepal successful. I have always been fascinated by high mountains, but at age 67, I think it is too late to start climbing. But to fulfil my dream, I decided to take the Classic Everest Trek from Jiri to Everest. With a start on October 29 and ending on November 25, it was quite a long trek, but I strongly recommend a trek. Even though the weather from Jiri to Lukla was not very good and the trekking trail is quite strenuous, I think you get a better impression of the daily life in the Himalayan area than from Lukla up to Everest, which is more touristic.

I want to thank Bhairam for meeting me at the airport and bringing me back after the trek and Kevi (guide) and Raz (porter) for excellent service during the trek. Kevin understood that my main goal was to go as close to Everest as possible. He advised me, and I managed Kala Pattar (5.550m) without problems. I will never forget the beautiful view of Mount Everest early in the morning, and I was proud of myself for not giving up on the steep tracks. The trek back to Lukla was very relaxed, and Kevi and I had more time to talk about life in the high mountains. Even if I could not talk to Raz in English, we could communicate with gestures, and he managed to serve me local wine before Lukla!

Finally, thank you, Tilak, for meeting me in the hotel after the trek. I want to say that I am very satisfied with your company and your staff, and I will tell all my friends in Norway to contact you if they plan to go to Nepal. I am quite sure I will travel back to Nepal in the future.

Kind regards,
Kjell G. Herregarden

We have been with Nepal Hiking for the second time now. The first time we travelled to Tibet (private tour – Lhasa – EBC – back to Nepal by a Jeep). This year we did the classic Everest Base Camp Trekking Tour and an excursion to Pokhara and Chitwan. The whole tour was awesome. The service was excellent. Tilak and Bhairam organized our tour perfectly well. They are very kind and helpful and have never lost their professionalism. A big thank you goes to our guide Chhabi and our porter Krishna on the trek. They are very kind, helpful, responsible, funny and always take care of us. I can say that I’m a fan of Nepal Hiking. If I ever return to Nepal, I want my tour to be organized by Nepal Hiking again. I appreciate it!

Thank you very much for those unforgettable moments!

I have been home for about a week now. I think about my great time on the Classic Everest Trek every day. Before arriving in Kathmandu, I wondered whether I had taken on something too much. However, once I was picked up at the airport and met some of your staff, my mind was put at ease. From the first day, I was treated with respect. All my questions were answered, and all my needs were met.

Once on the trail, my safety and health were of primary importance to my guide Bhim and my porter Narayan. So every morning, they asked how I felt if I had a headache, and how I slept. They said, ‘ If you’re happy, we’re happy.”

Bhim was a wealth of knowledge. Any questions I had about the people, animals, birds, plants, mountains, politics, or whatever, Bhim usually had an answer, and he was also eager to hear about my part of the world. However, Narayan’s greatest asset was his strength. He easily carried my pack up and down the hills every day for 22 days, sometimes carrying all my gear, leaving me with nothing to do but enjoy the day.

I would not hesitate to recommend these two employees to anyone wishing for a fantastic holiday in Nepal.

Thank you, Tilak and all your staff, for providing me with the trip of a lifetime. I also highly recommend the use of the Nepal Hiking Agency.

Yours sincerely,
