Annapurna region is best described as Nepal’s most happening incentive trekking destination. That’s why the Annapurna Circuit Trek has been a highly praised and spectacular trekking route in the region since it opened to foreign trekkers in 1977. This three-week trek starts from Besishahar and goes along the Marshyangdi River, with a great view of Himalayan ranges such as Mt. Manaslu, Himal Chuli, and many more.

This trek leads you to the traditional village settlement, which is home to a wide diversity of local community members from different ethnic groups. It offers spectacular and majestic views of the white Himalayas. The scenery is equally breathtaking as it continues north of the main Himalayan range onto the high and dry Tibetan Plateau.

The trek’s highest point is Thorung La, at 5416m. Due to the hardships of crossing the pass, this trek starts counterclockwise.

As you descend to Muktinath from Manang, you will continue to the barren Tibetan settlement of the Kali Gandaki River. Once you arrive in Muktinath, take a local jeep to Tatopani, start your trek again to Poon Hill, and reach Pokhara.

A shorter Trek route of Annapurna Circuit

If you are looking for a shorter trek route, we have a two-week Annapurna Circuit Trek that ends at Jomsom. From there, we fly out to Pokhara.

The journey, lasting about 8 to 9 hours, takes you through stunning landscapes of hills, rivers, and terraced farmlands. On arrival, you’ll check into your local lodge. Spend the evening wandering the village or relaxing over dinner as you prepare for the days ahead.

Day 3Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1,960m)

Fuel up with breakfast before beginning your trek toward Dharapani. Today’s walk leads you through dense forest trails, rustic villages, and across suspension bridges. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Once in Dharapani, settle into your guesthouse and enjoy a warm dinner before turning in for the night.

Day 4Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,710m)

After breakfast, continue trekking towards Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district. The trail follows the Marsyangdi River and passes through pine forests and picturesque hamlets. You’ll catch your first close-up views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. On arrival in Chame, check into your lodge, enjoy dinner, and get some rest.

Day 5Trek from Chame to Upper Pisang (3,300m)

Today’s trek leads you through beautiful pine forests and orchards, gradually gaining elevation as you approach Upper Pisang. The route offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. Once in Upper Pisang, visit the local monastery for a glimpse into the region’s Buddhist traditions. In the evening, enjoy a hot meal and relax in your guesthouse.

Day 6Trek from Upper Pisang to Manang (3,540m)

After a hearty breakfast, begin your journey to Manang. The trail climbs through high-altitude terrain, past traditional villages and dramatic mountain backdrops. As you gain elevation, you’ll take breaks to acclimatize. Upon reaching Manang, check into your guesthouse, enjoy a nourishing dinner, and rest up for your acclimatization day.

Day 7Acclimatization in Manang

Today is a vital rest day to help your body adjust to the altitude. After breakfast, you can explore the village of Manang, visit its ancient monastery, or take a short hike to a nearby viewpoint. There may also be a short talk on altitude-related health and safety. Enjoy a calm evening with dinner and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 10Cross Thorung La Pass (5,416m) and Trek to Muktinath (3,800m)

Today is the highlight of your trek! Begin early before sunrise with a warm breakfast and start your climb to Thorung La Pass. At 5,416 meters, it’s one of the highest trekking passes in the world, offering incredible views of the surrounding Himalayan giants. After reaching the pass, descend carefully to Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Visit the Muktinath Temple if time permits, then check into your guesthouse and enjoy a well-deserved rest and dinner.

Day 11Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani (1,200m)

After breakfast in Muktinath, begin your journey by jeep or local vehicle descending toward Tatopani. The drive takes you through dramatic landscapes, passing the arid Mustang region into greener valleys. Tatopani, meaning “hot water,” is famous for its natural hot springs—perfect for a relaxing soak after many days of trekking. Once you arrive, check into your guesthouse and enjoy a revitalizing dip in the hot springs followed by a peaceful evening and dinner.

Day 12Trek from Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m)

Fuel up with an early breakfast, then begin your uphill trek toward Ghorepani. The trail ascends steadily through dense rhododendron and oak forests, offering glimpses of traditional Gurung and Magar villages. The climb is rewarding, as Ghorepani is one of the most scenic and charming places in the region, with close views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After reaching the village, check into your teahouse, enjoy a delicious dinner, and prepare for an early morning hike to Poon Hill if desired.

Day 13Early Morning Hike to Poon Hill, Trek to Tikhedhunga, and Drive to Pokhara

Rise early to hike up to Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Enjoy panoramic views and capture unforgettable photos as the peaks glow in the morning light. After soaking in the scenery, descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing your trek down through forests and farmland toward Tikhedhunga. Traveling in Nepal with Nepal Hiking was the best decision I made. Organizing a group trek isn’t easy, but Laxman took care of everything—from meals to accommodation—with warmth and professionalism. He made our Annapurna Circuit trek, including Thorong La Pass, feel effortless. I truly felt safe and welcomed. Nepal is beautiful, but meeting Laxman made it even more special.

Planning a long trek with a group can be stressful, but with Nepal Hiking, everything was incredibly well managed. Our lead guide Rajan and assistant Krishna were fantastic—knowledgeable, calm, and always attentive. They handled logistics, group needs, and unexpected changes with skill and grace.

Our journey took us from Kathmandu to Bensi sahar, then on to Manang, across the awe-inspiring Thorong La Pass, to sacred Muktinath, and finally down to Jomsom, Tatopani and Ghorepani. Throughout the trip, Rajan was a source of knowledge and positivity. His care for the team and his love for the mountains shone through every step. Thanks to Nepal Hiking, this wasn’t just a trek—it was a meaningful life experience.

One of the best things you can do for yourself in Nepal if going on a longer journey with a group or solo is to have your trip organize by local agency and to have a local guide. Especially when going with a group, you need to think in advance where to sleep and where to eat, and sometimes it is not so easy to find this things for group of people. And people have various needs and levels of comfort. Bhairam from Nepal Hiking will do this for you in best possible way. He is very warm and kind man with an excellent organizing skills and will take care of everything you need plus he will answer all your questions about Nepal and places you will visit. We traveled from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Manang and after crossing Thorang La to Muktinath, and from Jomson back to Pokhara. Bhairam and his people made everything easy and safe. I felt like I was at home. And the best thing is that I now have a great friend in Nepal.
