Where is Tengobhce Monastery Located?
It is located in the Khumbu valley of Nepal, northeast of Kathmandu, on the southern face of Mt. Everest, at an elevation of 3,861 meters. The nearest town is Namche Bazaar which can be reached by plane, followed by a 2-day hike from Lukla Airport. In addition, a day hike to the monastery is possible from Namche if you are well-acclimatized.
How to Reach There?
The simplest way to reach the monastery is to take a charter helicopter tour from Kathmandu. This option takes approximately 2 hours and provides stunning aerial views of the surrounding landscape. You can also book fixed-wing regular flights to Lukla Airport if you’d like to explore more of Nepal before arriving at Tengboche Monastery or join the standard trek programme of Everest Base Camp or a shorter trek route starting from Lukla and trek to Namche and Tengboche.
