Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu and Hotel Transfer

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, our dedicated team will warmly welcome you. A 30-minute drive will take you to your hotel in the city, where you can check in and rest after your flight.

Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing and Expedition Preparation

Begin your exploration with a Kathmandu sightseeing tour, uncovering the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit revered places like Pashupatinath, the peaceful Bouddhanath Stupa, and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. You may also discover Patan Durbar Square and the Monkey Temple if time permits. Later, connect with the expedition team to plan for the Baruntse Expedition, where they’ll help secure permits and guide you on essential climbing gear. Utilize this time for any final trekking shopping needs.

Day 3Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9184 ft) and Trek to Chhuthang (3020m/9905ft)

Embark on the adventure as you take a scenic flight to Lukla, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. After landing at Tenzing Hillary Airport, enjoy breakfast at a local teahouse before starting the trek to Chhuthang. The 4-5 hour trek takes you through green pastures, rural hamlets, and lush vegetation, providing a peaceful and scenic experience. Overnight in a teahouse.

Days 4Trek from Chhuthang to Thuli Kharkha (4,100m/13448ft) via Zatrawala Pass (4,600m/15088ft)

Begin the day with a trek to Thuli Kharkha, a 5-6 hour journey through a steep path with ups and downs. Ascend to Zatrawala Pass (4,600m) to enjoy views of Karyolang Peak, Numbur Himal, and Kong Ri. Descend to Thuli Kharkha, a teahouse for the night.

Day 5Trek from Thuli Kharka to Kothe (4,182m/13716ft)

Continue the journey from Thuli Kharka to Kothe, trekking through a lush forest with juniper, pine, oak, and rhododendron. Traverse the Hinku Valley, reaching Kothe after 6-7 hours. Enjoy the picturesque surroundings and stay overnight in a teahouse.

Day 6 Trek from Kothe to Thangnak (4,326m/14189ft)

Wake up to a mesmerizing view of Kothe village, then trek to Thangnak. Pass Gondishung and Lungsumgba Gompa, a primitive Buddhist shrine, and witness stunning views of Kusum Kanguru Peak and Mera Peak. Trek through scenic pastures to reach Thangnak, where you’ll spend the night in a teahouse.

Day 7 Trek from Thangnak to Khare (5,000m/16,400ft)

Embark on a 5-hour trek to Khare, reaching an altitude of 5,000m. Trek above the Hinku River, crossing Shar Glacier while enjoying breathtaking views. Arrive in Khare, explore the village, and witness the fantastic views of Mera Peak. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Day 8Rest at Khare

Take a well-deserved rest day in Khare to acclimatize to the high elevation. Enjoy a short hike to Mera Glacier, exploring the area and preparing for the upcoming climb. Spend the day at ease, retracing Khare, and rest in the teahouse.

Day 9Trek from Khare to Mera La Pass (5400m/17712ft)

Embark on a 5-hour trek from Khare, climbing a steep path above the Mera Glacier. The trek to Mera La Pass involves careful climbing and navigating snowy terrain. Reach the pass, enjoy unparalleled views, and set up a tented camp for the night.

Day 10Trek from Mera La Pass to Seto Pokhari (4,850m/16,247ft)

After breakfast in the tented camp, trek uphill to Seto Pokhari, passing through a meadow area and yak pasture. Enjoy views of rising peaks and valleys, reaching the serene Seto Pokhari. Rest in a tented camp for the night.

Day 11Trek from Seto Pokhari to Baruntse Base Camp

Embark on a demanding 5-hour trek to Baruntse Base Camp. Traverse rugged terrain, trekking gradually to the base camp at an altitude of 5,300m. Pass through rough boulders and set up a tented camp for the night.

Day 12-23Summit Mt Baruntse (7,129m/23882ft) and Return to Base Camp (5,300m/17755ft)

Commence the Baruntse Expedition, climbing for 12 days with ups and downs to acclimatize. Follow the lead of the climbing guide along snowy and steep paths, using ladders to cross crevasses. Summit Mt Baruntse (7,162m) to embrace awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks, glaciers, and lakes. Descend to the base camp after the summit, spending the night in a tented camp.

Day 24Cleaning Base Camp and Return to Seto Pokhari (4,850m/16247ft)

Take responsibility for cleaning the base camp, collecting garbage, and managing it. Descend to Seto Pokhari, an easier trek than the previous days. After 3-4 hours of trekking, reach Seto Pokhari and stay overnight in a tented camp.

Day 25Trek from Seto Pokhari to Mera La Pass (5,415m/17,766ft)

Retrace the path to Mera La Pass, a steeper trek. Enjoy views of the Khumbu Region and the surrounding mountains. Spend the night in a teahouse.

Day 26Trek from Mera La Pass to Thangnak (4,326m/14189ft)

Start the day with a mesmerizing view from the top, retracing the path through a gentle uphill walk from Mera La Pass. Descend to Thangnak village, passing through Khare, and rest for the night in a teahouse.

Day 27Trek from Thangnak to Kothe (3,592m/11,784ft)

Descend from Thangnak to Kothe, a mostly downhill trek. Enjoy the serene surroundings, crossing a lush forest of Pine and Oaks. Return to Kothe, a charming village, for an overnight stay.

Day 28Trek from Kothe to Thuli Kharkha (4300m/14107ft)

Bid farewell to Kothe at the break of dawn and traverse through lush landscapes to the western side of the Hinku Valley, leading to the elevated Thuli Kharka. Unlike the preceding days, you’ll ascend to higher altitudes, trekking uphill to reach Thuli Kharka. Revel in breathtaking views of Mera Central, Mera Peak, and other majestic peaks before retiring for the night in Thuli Kharka.

Day 29Trekking from Thuli Kharka to Lukla (2860m/9383 ft)

 Begin by ascending a ridge, Kalo Himal, followed by another hill and the crossing of Zatrawala Pass, unveiling a mesmerizing panorama reminiscent of the days gone by. Descend from the pass, navigating rugged sections and dense forests as you travel to Chhutang. The path continues its descent until you finally arrive in Lukla. With a heart full of memories and a sense of accomplishment, conclude the trek in Lukla, celebrating with a well-deserved drink and rest.

Day 30Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu (1400m)

After a hearty breakfast, depart from Lukla, soaking in the spectacular landscapes, dense woods, and towering mountains during the 35-minute flight. Upon landing in Kathmandu, head to your hotel, unburden yourself with backpacks and gear and relax. You can explore Kathmandu at your leisure for the remainder of the day. Enjoy an overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 31International Departure

As the Baruntse Expedition concludes, our dedicated team will transfer you to the airport for your departure. Bid a fond farewell, cherishing the unforgettable moments from the expedition, and embark on your journey homeward with a heart full of cherished memories.
