Smart Tips for an Affordable Everest Base Camp Trek

  • Book your trip as early as you can – prices may jump up quickly closer to your departure date.
  • If you’re booking your trip with an agency, be sure to ask if any discount coupons or special deals are available.
  • If possible, join a group trek. Sharing guide and porter costs with others can save you quite a bit.
  • Don’t buy all your gear new; Kathmandu has great rental shops where you can find quality hiking gears for less.
  • Stick to local meals rather than imported or packaged foods – not only cheaper, but more authentic too!
  • Avoid buying bottled water, bring a reliable water purifier or iodine tablets. It’s kinder to your budget and the environment.
