What Makes This a Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek?

This trek follows the established Everest Base Camp route but places greater emphasis on accommodation, personal service and comfort.

Instead of relying only on standard teahouse accommodation, the journey uses premium mountain lodges where available. In Kathmandu, you stay in a 5-star hotel before and after the mountain journey.

The trek is fully guided, with experienced mountain guides and porter support throughout the trekking section.

Premium Mountain Lodge Accommodation

Accommodation is an important part of this version of the Everest Base Camp trek. The route uses premium lodges in the Everest region, including properties associated with Mountain Lodges of Nepal.

Featured accommodation includes Yeti Mountain Home Lukla, Namche Lodge and Phakding Lodge, subject to availability and the arrangements of the trip.

Private rooms, attached bathrooms where available, hot showers and heated rooms provide additional comfort at different points along the route.

Use up and down arrow keys to resize the meta box pane.

Experienced Guide and Porter Support

The trek is fully guided, with an experienced mountain guide accompanying you throughout the route. Porter support is also provided, allowing you to walk with a lighter daypack while the main luggage is carried between lodges.

Acclimatisation Along the Route

The itinerary includes acclimatisation days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. These days allow you to spend more time at altitude and take shorter hikes before continuing towards the higher elevations.

The acclimatisation hikes also provide opportunities to explore the surrounding villages and Himalayan landscape rather than simply spending the day at the lodge.

Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar

The trek reaches Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres before continuing to the viewpoint at Kala Patthar, 5,545 metres.

Kala Patthar is the highest point of this trek and provides a close mountain viewpoint before the helicopter return to Kathmandu.

Helicopter Return to Kathmandu

After the early morning visit to Kala Patthar, the return journey to Kathmandu is by helicopter rather than retracing the trekking route to Lukla.

This removes several days of walking from the return journey and allows you to return to Kathmandu much sooner.

Comfortable Kathmandu Stay

The journey begins and ends in Kathmandu, with 5-star hotel accommodation included. After returning from the mountains, you also have a leisure day in Kathmandu before the remaining buffer and departure arrangements.

This is an outline of the journey. See the detailed itinerary below for the full day-by-day programme, walking arrangements, accommodation and other details.

What to Expect on the Trek

The journey gradually moves from the lower valleys towards the high-altitude landscape around Everest Base Camp. The trail passes through Sherpa settlements, Buddhist monasteries, suspension bridges and changing mountain scenery.

The higher part of the trek becomes more demanding as you approach Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp. The itinerary therefore combines gradual ascent with acclimatisation days rather than rushing continuously towards Base Camp.

The luxury approach does not change the altitude or physical nature of the trek. You still need to walk for several hours on mountain trails and reach elevations above 5,000 metres.

Premium Lodge Experience in the Everest Region

The mountain lodges provide a more comfortable base after each day of walking. Depending on availability, facilities can include private rooms, attached bathrooms, hot showers and heated rooms.

Meals during the trekking section are also arranged with the premium lodge experience in mind, with a focus on providing a wider and more comfortable dining experience along the route.

Best Time for the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek

The main trekking seasons are spring, from March to May, and autumn, from October to November.

These periods are generally used for Everest region trekking because of the conditions along the route and the mountain views.

The monsoon months of June to August and the colder winter period from December to February require different considerations, particularly for flights, weather and high-altitude trekking conditions.

Who Is This Trek Suitable For?

The Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek can suit:

  • Couples looking for a more comfortable trekking arrangement
  • Families and private groups
  • Travellers who prefer premium accommodation
  • Busy professionals who want to combine trekking with a shorter return journey
  • First-time Everest Base Camp trekkers who prefer to travel with experienced guides and organised support
  • Travellers who want the classic Everest Base Camp experience with a helicopter return

Luxury accommodation does not remove the physical demands of the trek. You should be comfortable walking for several hours on consecutive days and spending time at high altitude.
