Your adventure begins in Pokhara, where you’ll be picked up by private car and driven for about 2 hours to Pitam Deurali (via Kande and Australian Camp). The drive offers scenic views of green hills, terraced farms, and the Himalayan foothills.

From Pitam Deurali, you begin trekking through peaceful forests filled with rhododendron and oak trees. The trail is gentle, quiet and perfect to ease into the rhythm of the Himalayas. After about 4 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Forest Camp (2,550m), a serene spot surrounded by trees and fresh mountain air.

Day 2Trek from Forest Camp to High Camp (3,580m)

🕗 Trek: 6.5 hours

Today’s trek takes you higher into alpine terrain with open views and clear skies. You’ll walk along a peaceful ridge, with glimpses of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South peeking through the trees as you climb.

As you gain altitude, the forest thins out and the landscape opens up. You’ll stop for lunch at Low Camp, then continue the scenic uphill trail to High Camp (3,580m). It one of the most stunning viewpoints on the Mardi Himal trail.

Once you arrive, you’ll settle into your teahouse and enjoy sunset views over the Himalayan giants right from your room or dining area.

After soaking in the moment, you’ll return to High Camp for breakfast, then begin your descent to Low Camp (2,990m). This is an easier downhill walk through alpine landscapes and light forest, where you’ll likely spot Himalayan birds and maybe even yaks.

At Siding, a private car will be waiting to take you back to Pokhara (1.5-hour drive), where you’ll arrive by afternoon. Your short Mardi Himal trek may be over, but the memories of mountains, forests, and sunrises will stay with you for a lifetime.

I first asked Monika which short trek around Pokhara is good. She suggested the Mardi Himal trek, as she recently did it with her friends. So I booked the trip with her. The trek was amazing! The views were great, and it felt like you could almost touch your nose to Mardi Himal. Really a great experience.
